Renewing Philippine Passport 2017
If your passport is expiring within a year, book your appointment now. Available dates are usually 2-3 months in advance. If you have the luxury of time and persistence, you can check available dates within the current month depending on whether there have been cancellations.
If you don't have immediate travel plans within the next 6 months, schedule your passport renewal by January 2018 when the 10-year passport validity takes effect.
You can rebook/reschedule your appointment up to 3 times. My initial appointment was set at August in SM Manila and was able to reschedule it 3 times [July 5 SM Manila, June 28 DFA Aseana then June 22 at DFA Aseana]. If you did not cancel your appointment and failed to appear on that date, you will be barred from rescheduling for 30 days.
If you are an OFW, proceed to Robinson's Galleria satellite office or at DFA Aseana and present original and certified copy of your contract and notarized document from the embassy.
If your passport is still valid but is expiring in less than a year, you will need to submit a written document asking DFA to cancel your existing passport.
Nearest provincial satellite offices within Manila are Lipa and Angeles. Fancy a short vacation while renewing your passport? You can also try Lipa then ride the bus going to Batangas City port then head to Masasa Beach or a heritage town tour to Taal, Batangas. Prefer heading up north to La Union or Baguio? Roundtrip bus fares will cost approx Php 1000 per person.
I also inquired at telephonepassportexpress and their rate is Php 2000 that already includes rush passport processing (Php 1200 same with DFA) and delivery to your home/office address. A representative will meet you at DFA Aseana on the day of your appointment. Availability of dates are dependent on whether they have allotted slots. This is an option if you don't want to leave Manila.
There have been some comments in FB groups and blog posts that some satellite offices still allow walk-ins if you go there really early. There is a very high probability that you will be turned away if you don't have a scheduled appointment. Caveat emptor.
