Day 2: Dinner at Ka Lui Restaurant in Puerto Princesa
[October 22, 2011]
After the firefly watching at Iwahig River, we went to Ka Lui Restaurant for dinner. We had already asked Ms. Tiara to make the reservations for us. They request having reservations before going since they can be up to full capacity especially for dinner and walk-in customers are only entertained if they have vacancies.
The restaurant is located along the stretch of Rizal Avenue too and the trike ride from Marianne Home Inn to the restaurant took less than 10 minutes. It's setup like a traditional Filipino home with floors and walls made up of bamboo and native wood. It's also surrounded by a landscaped garden with some interesting pieces.
Before heading inside, all guests need to take off their shoes/sandals and leave them by the foyer.
Since we were a group of 4, we ordered the Special of the Day Set (good for two people) at Php 415 per set which includes plain rice and mixed vegetables. You can order other items on the menu a la carte but each item would cost Php 350-400 up.

We ordered fresh fruit shakes separately.
Seaweed salad for starters
Halaan soup
Fish roll in coconut cream
Lobster
Dessert was mixed tropical fruits (bananas, papaya, watermelon, mango) served with muscovado sugar in a fresh coconut shell
The food was good but was not something to rave about. The good thing about their set is you can try the different seafoods at a much lower cost compared to ordering it a la carte. Best to come here for the ambiance with a more intimate dinner setting rather than going for the food.
The restaurant is also an art gallery that has paintings of local artists that adorn their walls and some are available for purchase.
We took pictures of the garden surrounding the restaurant that's lighted at night.
